Project Summary:

Transfer for nitrogen fixation apparatus of bacteria into plants. Each Nif is re-configured for relocation to plant organelles to favour improved biochemical conditions for nitrogenase activity. This project involves synthetic biology, anaerobic biochemistry, plant genetic modifications, in silico design of improved nitrogenase proteins and high throughput testing regimes.
